Security System for Furniture - Fidlock GmbH

During my bachelor thesis, I worked with the design team at Fidlock GmbH to develop the following two furniture fittings, which expand the company's portfolio of locking systems.

The Fidlock GmbH flip hinge is operated by an analog lever movement, which unlocks the magnetic locking-based security system for furniture. Thanks to the SNAP-PUSH locking principle, when the flap is released, a spring-lever construction makes the security system ready to lock again. The furniture fitting consists of a pair of magnets, male and female part, which cannot be opened due to a positive locking in the direction of force. If the female part is moved, the furniture can be opened.

The newly developed push-to-open hinge from Fidlock GmbH impresses with its intelligent performance. The safety system for furniture can withstand loads of up to 60 kg and can be installed in the marine and automotive sectors as well as providing safety in earthquake zones. The lock is based on the principle of the existing Snap-Push lock from Fidlock GmbH. After pressing the button, it slides out of the furniture fitting and becomes a handle due to a magnetic polarity reversal. After a few seconds, the push button automatically moves back to its original position and can thus lock the furniture to be secured again.
